Our guests come from all over the world: the four corners of the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Israel, India, Africa, Saudi Arabia, Asia, Morocco and South America. You’ll get to meet people whose language and culture might be different, but whose goals are the same as yours–to lose weight, get healthy and enjoy a well deserved retreat.
Though you can enjoy a massage, indulge in a facial, or even try reflexology, Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts is a diet and weight loss program. Our guests don’t come for the spa services, but to lose weight, ramp up their fitness, and have time for themselves. Since we are not a spa in the traditional sense, you won’t get bugged to buy expensive “products” (or vitamins or special foods, for that matter.) This helps us keep the costs down which means the savings get passed on to you.
For our original program, the minimum stay is one week. That’s just enough time to get a jump start on your weight loss goals and start a fitness program you can live with when you get home. Two weeks is better. If you can stay longer—four weeks or more—you’ll naturally lose even more weight and get more fit.

The Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts weight loss program fee is all-inclusive and covers:
Your room (for single, double or triple accommodations in New York and single or double accommodations in Texas, all depending on availability)
All meals and snacks
A personal fitness evaluation
A highly supervised and varied activity program
Nutrition, cooking and exercise classes
Behavior change coaching
Excursions and shopping trips*
Seminars and lifestyle programs
All taxes and gratuities
Personal training workouts
Nutrition 1-on-1 consultations
(Excluded is transportation to/from the Resort, personal laundry, spa treatments, and golf lessons, though some of these are available at discounted rates.)
*Special excursions such as an evening out with other guests are also excluded.)
Yes. Many of our guests extend their stay because they love the program. Extensions are subject to room availability and are not eligible for the discount provided if you were to sign up for that length of stay initially. For example, if you sign up at our New York location for four weeks, double occupancy, the cost would be $1,850 per week. If instead, you sign up for two weeks, double occupancy and then extend two weeks for a total of four weeks, the cost would be $1,900 per week.
New York: Our van service can only pick up at Newark Airport and you need to arrive before 2 pm. Return flights should be arranged to depart after 2 pm. If your flight schedule doesn’t permit our van to transport you, there is bus and private car service available. Once you have your flights scheduled, please email us the flight information and we will help make the arrangements.
Texas: Our van service can pick up at the San Antonio airport which is only 20 minutes from the Resort. You need to arrive before 4 p.m. or you can grab a local taxi.
If you cancel more than thirty days before the start of the session, you will receive a full refund of all fees previously paid, less a non-refundable registration fee of $250.
If you cancel less than thirty days prior to the start of the enrolled session, the fees paid are non-refundable.
Due to the seasonal nature of the program, there is no refund or credit for any part of the session not completed.
Yes, we do accept SpaFinder Gift Certificates which can be used to pay for up to $500 in tuition EXCEPT for the registration fee of $250
We’ll send you a packing list, but we are casual here.
• Shorts, t-shirts, bathing suits, and workout clothes for the day.
• Jeans, slacks, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweaters and sweatshirts for night.
• Comfortable sneakers and hiking shoes, flip-flops for the pool and spa, and a rain jacket/poncho and umbrella.
• A flashlight for evening walks.
• A light backpack for excursions.
• A water bottle for every day.
• Something a bit dressier for any special evening entertainment.
• Books and your iPod (what’s life without music?)
• Though the Weight Loss Resort does have complimentary safe deposit boxes available in each room, we recommend you leave the expensive jewelry and valuables at home.
Bring a major credit card if you want to use the discounted spa services, play golf, or for special excursions, such as a movie or a dinner out (it’s practice for going back to the “real world”).
Bring some cash if you want to do laundry—we’ll send it out for you and get it back same day clean and nicely folded. For a minimum of 10 lbs it will cost you about $15.
There’s a store on site at the Weight Loss Resort for everyday personal items like newspapers, magazines, batteries, toothbrushes, dental floss and hair conditioner.
At our Texas Location, the La Cantera Hill Country Resort will be happy to lend you some gear including New Balance shoes and clothing. You can find out more about their lending program here.
We don’t advise eating food outside of the program, but this is the real world and you can purchase outside food. Eating outside the food plan can certainly impede your results. We ask that any guest considering outside food take that into consideration and talk through the choice with our nutritionists or coaches.
