Debbie Davis – Adjunct Program Director & Fitness Coach – Texas
Dr. Kara Nance – Medical Advisor
Dr. Nance graduated from Princeton University in 1996 with honors as a molecular biology major and a concentration in neuroscience. She attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she graduated top in her class in 2000. After completing her internal medicine residency in 2003 at the University of Chicago, she practiced primary care medicine in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago.
In 2011 Dr. Nance opened her current practice, Wellessence MD, with the objective of providing personalized care in a highly progressive environment. Dr. Nance strives to empower individuals to adopt lifestyle changes that can keep them well and limit the need for prescription medication or expensive medical treatments. Dr. Nance embarked on an intensive study of nutrition and weight management, and passed the American Board of Obesity Medicine exam in November 2012.
Dr. Nance is currently undergoing certification to use Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for the treatment of stress related disorders like depression, anxiety, headaches, other chronic pain syndromes, and insomnia. She has already become certified in the use of Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Therapies (MB-EAT) on her weight management patients. Because of her multi-disciplinary approach, Dr. Nance sees incredible success in her weight management patients. Dr. Nance is a true student of wellbeing and also offers personalized coaching services for individuals looking to improve their lives in a wide variety of personal and professional domains.
Dr. Nance is a strong advocate for patient centered care and controlled health care costs. In addition to her role as a clinician, Dr. Nance travels annually to Washington DC to lobby for health reform. Because of her expertise in healthcare technology, Dr. Nance has been called on to consult with local healthcare organizations, and has been a speaker at eClinicalWorks National and Regional User Conferences. Dr. Nance can often be found at conferences that explore using technology and data to drive better health outcomes. She has recently collaborated on a behavioral health project on the use of technology to help individuals improve their wellbeing by encouraging positive daily addictions.
On a personal note, Dr. Nance has also been blessed with four active children. She enjoys her roles as mom, girl scout leader and a Sunday school teacher. Dr. Nance is also an avid fitness fan and mixes it up by running, practicing yoga, lifting weights, and playing tennis. She also loves to cook healthy foods and travel.

Jackie Poplaski – Director – Program Development & Behavior Coaching /Fitness Coach – New York and Texas
Jackie holds her coaching certificate from New York University and is a Sharecare Elite Trainer and Fitness Expert. In addition, she is a NASM certified personal trainer, AFAA certified group fitness and kickboxing instructor. Utilizing her vast education as well as her own personal experience losing and keeping off 100lbs, Jackie has been with Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts since 2010 and has coached hundreds of participants along their own journey of success by helping them recognize and change the behavior and thinking that has been keeping them from making permanent healthy lifestyle changes. Kristi Docwra – Fitness Coach- Texas
Kristi has known the struggle of being overweight. She spent many years being not only the tallest girl in class, but also the biggest. Kristi had to learn healthy habits early on in life, which helped her excel in soccer, cross country and track in high school. She played two years of college soccer at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN before deciding to move back to Arizona to attend Arizona State University in order to pursue her passion for health and wellness. A quick two years later Kristi walked away with her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology. Soon after graduation she decided to move closer to family in San Antonio, Texas and has found out that she is a Texas girl at heart. Shortly after moving to San Antonio she decided to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio and received a Masters degree in Health and Kinesiology with an emphasis in Health Promotion. Dianne Glover, MPH – Behavior Coach – Texas
Dianne’s own journey with health and wellness began when she was working as an actress in New York City. She recognized that proper nutrition and physical fitness were the keys to maximizing her energy, so she became a certified aerobics instructor. She later went on to graduate school and received a master’s in public health from UCLA. Working in healthcare communications, Dianne discovered her passion to help people be proactive about their health and continued her education to become a professional certified wellness coach. Jason Grieshaber – Fitness Intern – New York
Jason is a senior in the Exercise Science program at Longwood University and is serving as our Fitness Intern. He has a passion for helping people, and strives to make a positive difference in the lives of those around him. Hailing from the small town of Vinton, Virginia, Jason has always been surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains and loves a good run or hike. Although he was involved with sports throughout his youth, it wasn’t until he contracted bacterial meningitis at the age of 18 that he became truly passionate about and appreciative of health and fitness.
Since then he has never taken his health for granted and now enjoys living a healthy, active lifestyle. His favorite workouts include high-volume resistance training and running sprint-intervals. In addition to his academic knowledge and personal experience, Jason is also an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and is extremely excited to bring his passion for health and fitness to SDR this summer!
Shanna Gwilliam – Program Administrator – New York
Shanna Gwilliam is thrilled with the opportunity to serve as Program Administrator and Behavior Coach for Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts’ program in Ellenville, New York, located at Honor’s Haven Resort & Spa.
Shanna has been dedicated to health and wellness since 1996 when her body weight doubled as a result of a medication for a kidney transplant. By 1998, after reaching her ideal weight, she embarked on her wellness career, starting as a camp counselor at a fitness camp for children and becoming girl’s director the following two summers. She noticed that many of the children struggled with emotional issues, so in an effort to help them, as well as adults struggling with their weight, she finished her Master’s Degree and became a licensed counselor in 2000. She has since worked as a therapist and wellness coach, hypnotherapist and life coach and has sought out continuing education and certifications to expand her capacity in helping others with their wellness goals. Recently, upon starting a new medication, she again gained a lot of weight in a short period of time. She is excited to join Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts this summer to once again reclaim her own wellness, right alongside the guests. Read more
Alison Kaslow – Cognitive Behavior Therapist & Fitness Coach – New York
Alison is currently obtaining her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from UMASS-Amherst, she spent two years working in marketing and advertising. During this time, she experienced her own weight loss journey that led her to develop a strong passion for health and fitness. Having had a lifelong struggle with weight, she realized that change would only be effective if she could recognize the thoughts and habits that posed a barrier to her success. She believes that one must be mindful of their feelings towards food in order to integrate positive behavior change.
Alison recently became a certified spin instructor and she can’t wait to inspire others through the bike. But most importantly, she hopes to help others find the activities them make them flourish. She wants all the guests to know that their time spent at Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts is about their self-care. Alison is counting down the days to meet everyone and is looking forward to the best summer yet!
Amber Ketchum – Registered Dietitian – Texas
Amber is a Registered Dietitian from San Antonio, Texas. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from the University of the Incarnate Word, and later attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she completed her Dietetic Internship and her Master’s Degree in Dietetic Studies. Sonya Luisi– Nutritionist – New York
Sonya Luisi is a Nutritionist, amateur chef and fitness fiend. She holds a Master’s degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University and is AFAA trained in Group Fitness. Sonya fostered her passion for public health nutrition growing up in a multicultural environment which led her to travel and learn about food, nutrition and culture. She is excited to share her nutrition and fitness knowledge with SDR’s guests.
Sonya believes in a whole body approach to weight loss including proper nutrition, daily physical activity and compassion for oneself. She practices and encourages meditation and breathing techniques to alleviate and reduce stress induced weight gain and wear and tear on health.

Nick Pallett – Fitness Coach – New York
Nick has been preparing for this job his entire life. He has been involved in organized sports from a young age including soccer, roller hockey, ice hockey, and power lifting. He also enjoys a multitude of outdoor activities which include sand volleyball, long boarding, snowboarding, and wakeboarding, to name a few.
Graduating from Baylor University with a degree in Exercise Physiology, he started his pursuit in academics involving fitness. He is now certified through NSCA as a CSCS; NASM as a CPT and PES; and in First Aid/AED.
He has a supportive and loving wife and 2 1/2 yr old son at home. Working as a personal trainer for almost 6 yrs, he always felt like something was missing. He is excited to join the team and really make a difference for people that truly want to change their lives.
Katie Papo – Fitness Coach – New York
Katie Papo develops holistic wellness programs in the Bahamas and United States for adults, young adults, and children. Specializing in stress and weight management, Katie is a certified yoga instructor, fitness coach, lifestyle consultant, and personal trainer. Her passion is to help others let go of negative habits, cultivate self-awareness, and inspire new lifestyle choices that promote an energized lifestyle, calm mind, and conscious living. I am looking forward to all of the transformation that will take place this summer, and meeting beautiful people who are ready to take charge of their health!
Erin Richardson – Fitness Coach – New York
Erin is a graduate from the University of Idaho, receiving her BS in Exercise Science and Health with a minor in Psychology. Growing up in Washington State, Erin loves the Pacific Northwest outdoor lifestyle and enjoys hiking, camping, and swimming and recently completed her first 100k bike ride. She has been involved in sports since childhood and played competitively in basketball, volleyball, swimming and track. Erin spent the last several years teaching water fitness and aerobics and working as a water instructor and lifeguard. She has American Red Cross certifications in CPR, AED and Administering Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguarding, and Water Safety Instruction. Erin is also ACE Certified as a Group Fitness Instructor and a member of the Aquatic Exercise Association.
Erin’s own struggle with illness as a child has led her to become passionate about health and staying active. She is excited and ready for a fun summer filled with nutrition, fitness, and helping others lead healthier lives.
Christina Schoerner – Registered Dietitian & Fitness Coach – New York
Christina Schoerner is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist from Carrollton, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and went on to complete her Dietetic Internship and Master’s of Nutrition from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, UAB. She most recently completed a Nutrition Fellowship at UAB in adolescent medicine, while also providing one-on-one adult nutrition consultations at a local gym.
Christina loves educating people about a healthy and active lifestyle while striving to live one herself! She loves trying new recipes in the kitchen, motivating others, and staying busy. Some of her hobbies include singing, playing competitive tennis, working out, traveling, trying new foods, attending musicals, and living out her life to the fullest! Christina is ecstatic about joining the Shane Team- get ready for a GREAT SUMMER!
