Our Team
Ziporah joined Camp Shane in 2007 where she works, alongside her husband David Ettenberg, helping to expand Camp Shane’s programs.
“I am so excited about our Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts program. It fills a void for young adults who want to lose weight and get fit, while meeting new friends, and having a fun and affordable vacation. Our adult guests love it because they are able to learn how to live a healthier lifestyle, while enjoying an incredibly relaxing time away from the stress of their everyday life.”
Ziporah practices what she preaches. She runs, lifts weights, walks and eats healthy. In October 2008, she raised over $5,000 walking in the Avon Breast Cancer 39 mile marathon walk. In April 2009, she walked in a 10k to support the effort to fight MS. In July 2009, she ran a 5k with her Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts guests and came in third in her age category (okay, there were only three people in that category…) And in September 2010, she biked over 150 miles through Eastern Europe; her first time on a bicycle trip! She followed it up with a 5 Borough NYC ride in May 2011 that covered 42 miles and another 3 day ride in Vermont in September 2011 covering 90 miles.
Previously, Ziporah was Associate General Counsel for the consulting group Mercer and VP and Chief Legal Ethics Officer for Mercer’s parent company, Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. In the nonprofit sector, Ziporah formed Shane Cares, a new non profit weight loss camp for economically disadvantaged children. She also served as co-chair of the Directorship and Corporate Governance Committee of the Financial Women’s Association and on the Board of ION, a national organization dedicated to helping women attain board of director and corporate leadership positions.
Be sure to follow Ziporah on Twitter for helpful information about weight loss, fitness and health.

It can also be the most enriching experience of your life. We learn about ourselves through our efforts. Both success and struggle hold valuable direction in becoming the best version of ourselves. The key lies in looking honestly at our choices now, learning to recognize what we believe about ourselves through these choices, and practice with changing what is not serving us well. Coaching sessions dedicate the support, time, and accountability to facilitate this process.”
